Michigan Chestnuts: Preparing for 2002 Harvest
Shelling chestnuts just got a lot easier for Michigan nut producers.
A new machine, called a brulage chestnut peeler pilot plant, was imported last winter from Italy. Giorgio Basio, a technical representative from Boema Company in Italy, the manufacturer of the shelling equipment, was on hand this month to set up the machine, the first of its kind in the United States.
